Watermelon is an annual trailing/climbing vine of the cucurbitae family like courgette, cucumbers and squashes.
It originated in Africa and the seeds have been found in the tombs of the Pharaohs in Egypt. It is grown today in many tropical and sub tropical places in the world and Southern Europe.

Bartelly F1 is a modern-hybrid, cherry tomato with very long trusses. The red, slightly-oval fruits have a good taste balance between sweet and sour and are ideal for the cool or heated greenhouse.

True Gold is an heirloom variety with golden yellow kernels and a rich buttery taste. True Gold is a tall growing sweetcorn and matures in about 90 days the cobs are best eaten as soon as possible after harvest.

The selection we call Salad Rocket is a professional standard variety which is our fastest grower. It is particularly recommended for the earliest spring crops Sunder-cover and the late season sowings from September onwards. It will run to seed in the hottest summer weather. This variety has a fine spicy taste.

Orange version of this very hot pepper. The fruits are short and fat and produced in great profusion on plants that get quite tall and do need some support. They mature from green to orange and get very hot so treat them with respect!

Early jalapeno is a type that is tasty but not too hot. The fruits are short and cone-shaped with thick walls and they mature from green to red. They are often picked green for the fresh market and are ideal for stuffing and for salsas.

Peas are legumes and belong to a family of plants that can make some of their own nitrogen. They do this with the aid of a nitrogen fixing bacteria which live in special root nodules of the plant. This symbiotic relationship is beneficial to the bacteria as it requires a plant host and for the plant because it can utilise the extra nitrogen to make more protein. 

You might be more familiar with growing onions from sets but growing from seed is very easy and much cheaper. They can be started quite early with some heat but they will also produce good bulbs from a later Spring sowing.
Many varieties have white flesh with brown skin but they can also be red or white.

White Lisbon is a traditional, salad onion which has been loved by British gardeners for many years. It is very quick growing and can be sown in succession from February through to late summer. White Lisbon bulbs much more than modern salad onions and the taste is a little stronger but it is definitely the most popular onion variety sold amongst amateur gardeners today.
